This project was inspired by a personal experience in late 2024 when I encountered a woman struggling with the QR code payment system on a BTS ticket vending machine. After selecting her destination and ticket quantity, the machine initially displayed a Rabbit LINE Pay QR code instead of the Thai QR Payment, which most Thais are familiar with.
She attempted to pay, assuming it was a Thai QR Payment that could be processed through her mobile banking app. However, she faced difficulty until I stepped in to help her generate the correct QR code by pressing an additional button, something she was unaware she needed to do.
This experience highlighted a UI/UX issue in the current system and inspired me to redesign the vending machine interface, making the QR payment process clearer and more intuitive for users.

The final UI design was developed using a darker colour palette, clean and modern typography, and a minimalist layout to reduce visual clutter and keep users focused on the main selection buttons. A bright green accent highlights key selections, such as the chosen destination, ticket quantity, and the enter button, ensuring clarity and ease of use.
The user journey guides users through a destination map, a selection page, a quantity selection page, and finally, the QR code payment screen. The design prioritises Thai QR Payment as the default option, while other QR code payment methods are accessible via additional button selections. The interface is available in both Thai and English for multilingual accessibility.

I recently noticed that this user experience issue has been resolved, the Thai QR Payment appears as the first QR code on the screen when purchasing a BTS ticket via the vending machine. This update improves the payment process, making it more intuitive and convenient for users. A small UI changes could lead to a seamless user journey and efficiency.
